Postpositions of place

Where something sits in relation to something else — in, on, under, in front of, behind, between — said after the noun, not before it.

In and out

• içinde in, inside

On top

Underneath

• tübde under

Front and back

• allı in front of (in the form allında)

Between and among

Beside and near

• janında beside, next to
• janına over to, up beside
• janından from the side of

Facing, across, toward

• qarşçı opposite, facing
• tuwra opposite
• üs across, over (in üsü bla)

Most of these are really nouns for a part of something — al front, art back, tüb bottom, üs top, iç inside, ara the space between — carrying an owner ending, so allında is literally "at its front". That is why they come in threes: içinde where something is, içine where it is going, içinden where it is coming from. üsünde and üsüne take the noun in its plain form, while ızından and ortasında take it in the genitive.
