(n.) fodder, feed, animal food, especially grain fed to livestock — One dictionary also glosses it more broadly as food. In the proverb it cites, an old horse becomes jem for the crows, which is still food eaten by animals.

malğa jem berirge — to give fodder to the cattle

There is no plural of this word. The ending would attach like any other — it is the word, not the grammar, that refuses: this is not something Karachay counts.
