jeymiş
/dʒejmiʃ/ · plural jeymişle
food, sustenance — Tenishev and Suyunchev 1989 marks it archaic, and Nevruz 1991 calls it rarely used. It survives in the proverb semiz ögüz qart bolsa qarğalağa jeymiş bolur "if a fat ox grows old, it becomes food for the crows", where it means prey or fodder.
- qarğalağa jeymiş bolur — becomes food for the crows
- qart bolsa qarğalağa jeymiş bolur — if it grows old, it becomes food for the crows
- börülege jeymiş boldu — became food for the wolves

The overlap in the last rows is real, not a mistake: jeymişleri can mean "his / her foods", "their food", or "their foods" — context decides.
