a tenant, a lessee, a sharecropper; one who takes land or livestock on shares — Common phrases are jer ortaqçı "a tenant of land" and mal ortaqçı "one who keeps livestock on shares". Guzeev 2000 also uses it for the person who lets something out on shares. Tenishev and Suyunchev 1989 marks it historical.
