qarğamı, quzğunmu aytır

/qarʁamɯ, quzʁunmu ajtɯr/

Literal translation

will the crow say it, or the raven

Intended meaning

Whatever has been said is bound to be overheard and passed on; it will not stay hidden.
  • «Buntçudu» der da, ullu onowçuğa bildirir. Allah saqlasın, hata azdandı. Qarğamı aytır, quzğunmu? Birle eşitirle. Andan sora ua meni efendilikden, seni ua [İbrahimni] elden oquna çığarırla. He will say "He is a rebel" and report it to a high official. God preserve us — harm comes of a small thing. Will the crow tell it, or the raven? Some will hear of it. And after that they will drive me out of the mullahship, and you [Ibrahim] out of the village itself.
