Said when one has given away everything one had for the sake of appearances or honour and is left with nothing oneself.

Ariw at da, quru çıq dep, bolğanıbıznı sıyğa quyub, kesibiz a quru üyge urulub qalğanbız, – dedi ınna."As they say, 'a fine name and nothing but dew' — we poured out everything we had for the honour of it, and we ourselves were left shut up in an empty house," said grandmother.
