(n.) extinguishing, putting out (a fire or light) (mainly Balkar) — The verbal noun of öçültürge: örtenni öçültüw 'putting out a fire', çıraqnı öçültüw 'putting out a lamp'. It is also used of soothing grief: buşuwnu öçültüw. Tenishev and Suyunchev 1989 marks it Balkar, but Nevruz 1991 and Guzeev 1996–2005 also list it.
