Cases
| Singular | Plural | When to use it | |
|---|---|---|---|
| nominative | er the husband | erle the husbands | the plain dictionary form — the doer of the sentence |
| genitive | erni the husband's | erleni the husbands' | the owner — whose it is |
| accusative | erni the husband (as the object) | erleni the husbands (as the object) | a specific, known object — whom or what |
| dative | erge to the husband | erlege to the husbands | direction or recipient — to where, to whom |
| locative | erde at / in the husband | erlede at / in the husbands | where it is; also having — mende bar, "I have it" |
| ablative | erden from the husband | erleden from the husbands | where it comes from; also "than" when comparing |
The endings are the same ones the pronouns wear — that page explains when each case is used.
With an owner
| One owned | Several owned | |
|---|---|---|
| my | erim my husband | erlerim my husbands |
| your | eriŋ your husband | erleriŋ your husbands |
| his / her | eri his / her husband | erleri his / her husbands |
| our | eribiz our husband | erleribiz our husbands |
| you all's | erigiz you all's husband | erlerigiz you all's husbands |
| their | erleri their husband | erleri their husbands |
The overlap in the last rows is real, not a mistake: erleri can mean "his / her husbands", "their husband", or "their husbands" — context decides.
